Summer in Seoul: A K-Beauty Blogger‘s Guide to the Hottest Spots93
Annyeonghaseyo, fellow travel lovers! Summer has officially arrived, and what better way to beat the heat than with a trip to the vibrant and beautiful country of South Korea? As a global travel blogger with a serious soft spot for K-beauty and all things Korean, I’m thrilled to share my recent summer adventures in Seoul, filled with stunning scenery, delicious food, and unforgettable experiences. Get ready to pack your bags, because this is your ultimate guide to a sizzling summer in Seoul!
My journey started with a visit to the iconic N Seoul Tower, perched atop Namsan Mountain. The panoramic views of the city sprawling beneath me were breathtaking. I snapped countless selfies, the Seoul skyline making the perfect backdrop. The summer air was crisp and clean, making the climb up (or the convenient cable car ride) totally worthwhile. Pro-tip: Go during the sunset for the most magical views! Remember to check the weather forecast before heading up, though, as sometimes the summit can be quite misty.
Next on my list was the enchanting Bukchon Hanok Village. This historic neighborhood is a charming maze of traditional Korean houses, each with its unique architecture and history. I wandered through the narrow streets, captivated by the colourful details and the serene atmosphere. This area is perfect for capturing authentic Korean-style photos. Don't forget your wide-angle lens to capture the beauty of these intricate houses! I even found a hidden cafe tucked away in a side street serving the most amazing matcha latte – a must-try!
No trip to Seoul is complete without experiencing the vibrant energy of Myeongdong. This bustling shopping district is a shopper's paradise, brimming with street food, cosmetics, and fashion. I indulged in some seriously delicious street food, from tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) to hotteok (sweet pancakes). My camera was constantly clicking as I explored the countless beauty shops, trying out samples of K-beauty products – a highlight for any beauty enthusiast! Remember to bargain respectfully when shopping in the smaller stores for the best deals.
For a dose of nature amidst the urban sprawl, I headed to the Olympic Park. This vast green space is perfect for a relaxing stroll, a picnic, or even a bike ride. I spent a few hours simply enjoying the tranquility of the park, taking in the beautiful landscaping and capturing some stunning self-portraits against the backdrop of the park's many sculptures and greenery. The park also hosts various events throughout the summer, so be sure to check the schedule before your visit.
One of the most memorable experiences was visiting the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). While not strictly a summer activity in the traditional sense, the historical significance of this border between North and South Korea is deeply moving. I joined a guided tour that provided a fascinating insight into the Korean War and the ongoing division. It was a sobering but essential part of understanding Korean history and culture. Remember to book your tour in advance, as spaces fill up quickly.
Beyond the iconic landmarks, I also explored some hidden gems. I discovered a charming cafe nestled along the Cheonggyecheon Stream, a revitalized urban waterway that runs through the heart of Seoul. The gentle flow of water and the lush greenery provided a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle. I spent an hour simply relaxing by the stream, enjoying the refreshing breeze and capturing some serene self-portraits.
Food, glorious food! My taste buds were in heaven throughout my Seoul adventure. Beyond the street food, I indulged in some incredible Korean BBQ, savoring the tender marinated meats and an array of delicious side dishes (banchan). I also tried Bibimbap, a colourful and flavourful mixed rice dish – a must-try for any first-timer! Don't be afraid to explore different restaurants and try a variety of dishes; Korean cuisine is incredibly diverse and delicious.
Of course, no trip to Korea is complete without embracing the K-beauty scene. I visited several popular beauty shops, stocking up on my favourite skincare products and trying out new makeup trends. I even participated in a K-beauty makeup class, learning some amazing techniques to enhance my natural features. Exploring the diverse range of K-beauty products is an experience in itself.
As my Seoul adventure came to a close, I felt a sense of fulfillment and wonder. The city's blend of ancient history and modern innovation, its vibrant culture and welcoming people, left an indelible mark on my heart. This summer trip to Seoul was more than just a vacation; it was a journey of self-discovery and cultural immersion.
So, are you ready to plan your own summer escape to Seoul? I hope this blog post has inspired you to pack your bags and embark on your own Korean adventure. Remember to share your own Seoul experiences with me using #SeoulSummerSelfie! Until next time, annyeong!
